Difference between Valved Masks vs Non-Valved Masks

In the medical sector, masks are generally worn by doctors and nurse and patients dealing with air-borne diseases, However, ever since the inception of the COVID-19 pandemic, masks have now become compulsory and have slowly fit into the common trend. biggest differentiating factor between the two masks is that valved masks provide much more comfort than non-valved masks. Valved masks come with a plastic valve which allows air circulation into the mask, For example, a dust mask that is valved will provide equal protection as that of a non-valved mask.

As already seen, the valve does not affect how much protective the face mask, FFP1 masks offer the least protection, at a rate of 4 APF (assigned protection factor), while FFP3 masks offer the highest protection at a rate of 20 APF. In a normal situation, you could opt for any respirator mask you want, depending on which one you find most comfortable. Considering the current scenario, in these times, it is advised that all should prefer wearing non-valved masks. As mentioned earlier, valved masks will provide you with inward protection but not outward protection.
